The Governing Body has responsibility for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement.

We take a largely strategic role in the running of the School which includes:

  •  Setting up a strategic framework for the School;
  •  Setting its aims and objectives;
  •  Ensuring financial accountability and compliance;
  •  Setting policies and targets to achieve the objectives;
  •  Reviewing progress; and
  • Reviewing the strategic framework in the light of progress.

The Governing Body acts as a "critical friend" to the Head teacher and staff by providing constructive advice and support. Governors also act as a sounding board for ideas and help where needed. A critical friend will challenge, ask questions, seek information, improve proposals and so seek to arrive at the best solution.

We are responsible for raising standards through the three key roles of:

  • Setting strategic direction;
  • Ensuring accountability; and
  • Monitoring and evaluating school performance
