Inclusion

Our school aims to provide a secure and caring environment concerned with the emotional, spiritual and social development of the child. We encourage every child to value their individual qualities and to strive to achieve their personal best. We are an inclusive school. Early identification and support for children with additional needs is crucial and by working in partnership with the children and parents we ensure that all children access learning and make progress. Within the mission statement, St Swithun Wells School affirms the need to build up those within the school community who need a safe and caring environment.

St Swithun Wells is a fully inclusive school. We actively seek to remove the barriers
to learning and participation that can hinder or exclude individual pupils, or groups of pupils. This means that equality of opportunity must be a reality for our children. We make this a reality through the attention that we pay to the different groups of children within our school:

- girls and boys
- disadvantaged pupils (Free School Meals, Pupil Premium and Ever6)
- minority ethnic and faith groups
- children who need support to learn English as an additional language
- children with special educational needs
- children with disabilities or medical needs
- children who are at risk of exclusion
- travellers
- asylum seekers
