Design Technology Curriculum Intent Statement
At St Swithun Wells, we want pupils to be inspired to be creative and experience opportunities which will give them insight into the world of engineering, design, technology (including food) etc to prepare them for the wider world.
Design Technology Curriculum Implementation Statement
The teaching of design technology at St Swithun Wells follows the design, make and evaluate cycle. We are using Kapow Primary scheme to support the teaching of knowledge and skills development for design technology. Pupils acquire and apply knowledge and understanding of materials and components, mechanisms and controls, structures, quality and health and safety. Design technology has links with many other subject areas and teachers use the planning process to ensure that this is appropriate and purposeful.
