St Swithun Wells is a Primary School with a full time Nursery and our current whole school roll is 232 pupils. We currently have spaces for 28 children at our Nursery.
Our Nursery school day runs as follows:
8.30am - 3.30pm (with a soft start from 8.30am-8.40am and soft finish from 3.15pm-3.30pm)
For parents who wish to send their child in for mornings only (15 free hours), the day is 8.30am - 11.30am.
Our Nursery offers the eligible 30 free hours. For parents who may not be eligible, additional hours are offered at £5.50 per hour.
Reception
The Published Admission Number for the reception class at St Swithun Wells’ is 30. The Governing Body has sole responsibility for admissions to this school and intends to admit 30 children in the school year which begins in September 2021. Applications are welcome from families whose child reaches his/her 4th birthday between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018.
Whenever there are more applications than places available, priority will always be given to Catholic applicants in accordance with the Trust Deed of the Diocese of Westminster. Applications will be ranked using the criteria listed below. In this policy applicant refers to the person making an application on behalf of a child; candidate refers to the child on whose behalf the application is being made.
RECEPTION PRIMARY SCHOOL APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2022 - children born between
1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018.
The closing date for your child's primary school application is 15h January 2022
OVERSUBSCRIPTION CRITERIA
Where there are more applications than the number of places available, places will be offered according to the following order of priority: -
Applications under criteria 2, 3 and 4, should be accompanied by a Certificate of Catholic Practice (CCP). These certificates are available from the priest at the parish where the family normally worships and on the Diocesan website at- www.rcdow.org.uk/schools/parents/admissions

APPEALS
If it has not been possible to offer your child a place at our school, you have the right, by law, to appeal to an independent appeal panel.
The deadline for submitting Reception appeals documentation is Wednesday 18th May 2022.
Parents have 20 school days form the date of notification that their application was unsuccessful to lodge a written appeal and 10 school days notice will be given of the appeal hearing. Appeals will be heard within 40 school days of the submissions of the appeal (30 school days in the case of late or in-hear applications).
In-Year Appeals can be submitted once in any academic year.
We will ensure that decision letters are sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.
