PSHE (Physical, Social, Health and Economic Education) Curriculum Intent Statement

PSHE enables our pupils to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. At St Swithun Wells we aim to help pupils understand how they are developing personally and socially and tackle many of the moral, social, cultural and economic issues that are part of growing up. Our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community and ensuring an understanding of the importance of their own health.

PSHE (Physical, Social, Health and Economic Education) Curriculum Implementation Statement

At St Swithun Wells, we believe that PSHE plays a vital part in how pupils are able to access the primary education as well as how they learn.  PSHE lessons are planned using the resource support of PSHE Association, drawing on good practice to allow teachers the flexibility to ensure that coverage is adapted to the needs of our pupils. Opportunities are embedded for cross curricular links and staff at our school are perceptive to times of need when issues arise and respond accordingly. As a Catholic school we ensure that our pupils are positive citizens and role models for others. We celebrate the importance that this has on pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural curiosity through our varied school assemblies and collective worship. We use the Ten: Ten Programme which integrates PSHE with RSHE as well as teaching the fundamentals of British Values and our School Values.
